Psychological security and its relationship with fanatic tendencies
The present study aims to identify the level of psychological security among students of the Sociology Department at the College of Humanities, University of Duhok, as well as to examine the level of certain prejudicial attitudes and the relationship between psychological security and prejudicial attitudes.
The study adopted the descriptive correlational approach. The research sample consisted of a group of Sociology Department students selected using an appropriate sampling method. Data were collected using a Psychological Security Scale and a Prejudicial Attitudes Scale, after ensuring their validity and reliability.
The results revealed that the level of psychological security among students was high, whereas the level of prejudicial attitudes was low. Moreover, the findings showed a significant inverse relationship between psychological security and prejudicial attitudes, indicating that higher psychological security is associated with lower levels of prejudicial attitudes among students.
Based on these findings, the study recommends maintaining and enhancing the high level of psychological security among students, and continuing to promote tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance of others within the university environment.
