Post-traumatic stress disorder

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) involves an acute reaction to severe stressors, including repeated traumatic experiences, avoidance of trauma-related stimuli, negative feelings and thoughts, and signs of heightened arousal.

Types of trauma that can cause PTSD:
1- Sexual assault
2- Serious accidents
3- Physical assault
4- Displacement and migration
5- War
6- Terrorism
7- Hearing a difficult or frightening story
Diagnostic criteria and symptoms according to the DSM-5
a. Experience of actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual assault in one or more ways.
b. The presence of one or more intrusive symptoms related to the traumatic event(s), which begin after the traumatic event(s):
1- Recurrent distressing memories of the traumatic event(s).
2- Frequent distressing dreams related to the traumatic event(s). C. Consistent avoidance
C. behaviors or actions when faced with stimuli associated with the traumatic event(s), as evidenced by the following:
1- Internalized avoidance.
2- Externalized avoidance.
D. Negative changes in cognition and mood associated with the traumatic event(s).
E. Marked improvements in arousal and responsiveness associated with the traumatic event.
F. The duration of the disturbance (criteria A, B, C, D, and E) is greater than one month.
Imagery rescripting is a therapeutic technique that addresses specific memories from past experiences related to current problems. By imagining that the course of events has changed in a more desirable direction, powerful therapeutic effects have been found. Image reframing is used to treat the following conditions:
