B.Sc. in Archaeology

Program Profile

The Department of Archaeology is a scientific academic unit established in 2021 concerned with studying archaeological remains from ancient to modern periods.

Fields of Study in the Archaeology Department:

1. Archaeology of Ancient Civilizations

2. Islamic Archaeology

3. Historical Linguistics

Suggestions for Developing the Archaeology Department: More practical training should be provided through fieldwork related to archaeological studies, or through field visits to archaeological sites. We also recommend establishing a scientific museum and an annual cultural festival for archaeological research to showcase archaeological heritage, which would help develop the department further.

Obstacles Facing the Archaeology Department:

1. Lack of suitable academic facilities for archaeology students (study halls, museums, laboratories, etc.).

2. Lack of a dedicated budget to support academic and archaeological activities such as:

  • Archaeological research
  • Site preservation
  • Conducting and publishing archaeological studies inside and outside the region
