Scientific University Research and Strengthening Social Cooperation and Coordination
On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the Department of Sociology at the College of Humanities, in coordination with the General Directorate of Education and the General Directorate of Care and Social Development, organized a workshop at the Cultural Center Hall.
Primary Objectives
The main goal of the workshop was to discuss short-term and long-term research tracks. The Department of Sociology aims to define these tracks for its undergraduate (Bachelor’s) and postgraduate students, ensuring that academic research is directly aligned with the department's strategic goals and community needs.
Bridging Academia and Public Institutions
Since the General Directorates of Education and Social Development represent broad segments of society and deal directly with social issues and demands, the Department of Sociology sought to:
* Align its research priorities with the practical needs of these two directorates.
* Ensure that academic findings serve as practical tools for community improvement.
* Identify academic solutions and interventions for issues facing various social groups.
The Role of Social Researchers in Schools
A significant portion of the discussion focused on the role, specialization, and status of Social Researchers within schools. Due to the increasing complexity of social issues in educational environments, the presence of social and psychological researchers has become an essential requirement for all public schools. This necessity calls for deeper cooperation between specialized university departments and the relevant government directorates.
Outcomes and Future Steps
In light of these priorities, workshop participants identified several key action points to ensure continuous coordination between the Department of Sociology and the two directorates. These points are set to be implemented through official administrative channels to foster a sustainable partnership.
