Person-Environment Fit refers to the perceived congruence between an individual's distinctive characteristics (values, beliefs, and behaviors) and the social system to which they belong. This concept explains a fundamental question: why an individual might be socially accepted yet not genuinely integrated into a group or community, or vice versa. It reflects the perceived compatibility between personal identity and social environment, serving as a critical factor in understanding social integration dynamics and organizational behavior. And it’s considered one of most important dimensions for measuring sins of social belonging.
