The third-stage students of the History Department at the College of Humanities conducted a scientific and cultural heritage field trip to the historic Citadel of Erbil
On Monday, May 11th, the third-stage students of the History Department at the College of Humanities conducted a scientific and cultural heritage field trip to the historic Citadel of Erbil, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kirvan Amedi and Dr. Dilvin Bamarni.
During the trip, the students visited various sections of the citadel. Mr. Hezha, an archaeology expert at the citadel, provided the students with a detailed and comprehensive explanation regarding the ongoing excavation and restoration works inside the site. On the other hand, Mr. Sarbast gave an extensive overview of the citadel’s Heritage and Geological Museum.
Additionally, both supervising professors highlighted the archaeological and historical significance of the citadel. Throughout these sessions, the students raised several questions related to the archaeological aspects, which were answered thoroughly and precisely by Mr. Hezha.
